While practicing law in Washington, D.C., I lost my paternal grandfather—a steady and deeply meaningful presence in my life. His passing sparked a period of soul-searching and led me to ask the kind of question many avoid: Am I truly living my best life? That question guided me to chocolate.

I immersed myself in the world of cacao—training in southeastern France, staying in the jungles of southern Belize, and learning how cacao is grown, harvested, and transformed into chocolate. In 2013, I founded Zivaara to explore chocolate’s power to enhance our lives—through pairings, confections, recipes, skincare, and meaningful experiences. The name “Zivaara,” drawn from ancient South Asian languages, means “best life.” Though I had no choice but to close the business in 2020 due to COVID-19-related restrictions, its spirit lived on.

Inspired by Zivaara and my own journey, I am writing my first novel. It blends the worlds I know best—law, chocolate, and the quiet strength of reinvention.
